I have Amazon Prime. What I can't figure out is if I can have it streamed to my TV. I don't want to watch on my laptop.

Am ashamed to say but I am not good with techy stuff. I have heard of both but the only thing I have is a roku. I will give a call to Amazon to get some info, I just did not want to do that tonight. It was so kind of you to respond. Thank you!

If your television has a port for HDMI, you can run the HDMI cable from laptop or PC to TV.

Oh. Well then you can run Amazon Prime on your TV easy-peasy. Just use your remote to click on Select Channels or Search Channels, whichever one your TV has, then in search, enter Amazon Prime, and then download it.

You can also go to the Amazon Prime website and create an account, and then click on Help.

Here is one way. Check the back or sometimes the side of your TV for an HDMI, VGA, or DVI port. Then check your computer for the same ports. Some TV's and Computers have all the mentioned ports and some only have one two or three of the ports. Pick a port that is available on both the TV and computer( I use HDMI). Then get the appropriate cable and connect the two ports. There is probably some setup needed on the TV through the menu options. The same with the computer but it is not to complicated. YouTube videos would probably be a big help.

Well I am not surprised to get help from you. I have been reading the board since I have joined and found you to be a most genuine, helpful and kind human being. I admire you greatly and hope your dream that Paxton will be returned to you and your lovely bride will come true.

The information concerning my problem is such a blessing, I think I can figure it out now.
Thank you so much for being the person you are. The world could be such a wonderful place with more people with your values.

Thank you so much. I am starting to get good advice to figuring this thing out. It is very kind of you to respond and give me some guidance. I can work anything in the kitchen, I was good with the outside, mower, edger and weed eater etc. It is just this techy stuff that overwhelms me.

Our TV, a fairly old Samsung, supports WiFi access to the internet and a bunch of streaming apps, Prime included. Xfinity (Comcast) makes access to Prime easy with its voice remote. Hold down a key, say Amazon Prime or Prime Video, and up it comes. The TV remote should accomplish the same thing, but we use the Comcast remote for TV watching. The key is internet access. As someone else said, even if your TV and service provider don't support this, you should still be able to use an internet access device like a Roku, or even a DVD player that supports wifi or cable based access to the internet, to achieve the same thing. Just got through watching a Prime movie. Prime has a ton of free movies and older TV series, but beware that many of the movies, and some TV, are pay per view. A usual movie price is about $4, some more, some less, and a lot are free.

Thanks for the help. I have Spectrum but also have a roku device. Yes I will be careful and I appreciate the warning about charges. I only want to be able to access the free programs available to Amazon Prime members. I am going to try to work on this tomorrow. I will send an update if I get it to work.

Search your Roku for Prime Video and download it.

Hate to break the news Ken, I don't have Roku TV I just have the little box thing I bought to get my Netflix to function with the TV, is that the same or something different? Yes, I can see you shaking your head, just like my husband should be doing. I just wish he would come back and handle all this crap. My job was the kitchen, his was making sure all the gizmos worked.

I feel for you, my husband was the techi one, as well as all the repairs in the house and cars... I'm not techi at all.. so I miss him very much for that.

This morning I built my very first item from Ikea.. I'm not useless with Paint and brush, nor am I useless when it comes to furniture renovation.. but I have never assembles a large wooden item myself , altho' watched hubs do it many times.... ( should have paid more attention really) ... so this morning I was in the barn , outting together some new ikea stuff.. , . Got it done, but when it comes to my Computer, and the TV, I've really not got a clue... when they go wrong.

Because you already have Roku, I'd say Ken N Tx has stated your best option.

About ten years ago, we too bought the little Roku box thing just to watch Netflix. Did that for a while, and in the process we learned that there are many, many other streaming channels that can also be accessed through Roku. Some are free while others you must pay for. Many are useless but many others are quite good. Roku serves as the gateway. Not all of them are automatically shown on the Roku home screen, but you can easily do a search and add them.

Since getting Roku we've cancelled our commercial cable television service and only use internet streaming (via Roku) for watching TV programs and movies. We've jumped around to various paid streaming services (currently have Pluto as my wife has been enjoying all off the Hallmark movies they offer). Amazon TV is one of the many streaming services that Roku offers.

Honestly, we really don't spend a lot of time in front of the television. When we do, The Roku Channel (free) is the one we watch most often.

My son has Amazon Firestick. I have always had Roku boxes. I don't care much for the Firestick (I found it confusing) and I keep reading that Roku is the best. You can easily get Amazon Prime on your Roku:
1. Sroll up or down until you see Streaming Channels
2. Scroll down to Search Channels then press the right arrow button to get to Search box
3. Start entering the letters p r i and Prime Video should show up to the right of the search box
4. Press the right arrow button to highlight the channel
5. Press Add Channel. After it's added it will show Go to channel

Press the home button on the Roku remote, or use your phone to go to your Roku's home screen.
  1. Choose Streaming Channels, followed by Search Channels. ...
  2. Search for and then select the Prime Video app. ...
  3. Choose Add Channel to download the app to your Roku device.

I have Roku as well and stream Amazon Prime to our TV.
Seversl folks gave instructions, would only add you'll may have to enter or set up a password the first time.

My millennial Daughter lives with me and she keeps an Amazon Prime Account because she shops online more than i do and can.free shipping on.most puchases with the account. Meanwhile i have the extra option for watching movies and shows when in the mood.

Just letting you know, I absolutely get Amazon Prime directly through my TV.

If you do not have what they call a "smart TV" the procedures might be different.

I would be a little careful about the Roku device or the Amazon Firestick. Some people have reported it overheating.

It plugs into the back of the TV. If you use it, just check periodically to make sure it is not overheating.

best of luck.

Lastly, just noting here. That we order a lot through Amazon. And if you have Amazon Prime, the Amazon shipping is free. That alone has saved us far, far, far more than the cost of getting Amazon Prime in the first place.

So, it has all worked out very well for us.

If your TV is Wi Fi ready, can't you download the app?
