Can I Be Hacked Now?

I got an email that I thought was legit. I opened it and it asked for my email address I looked the company up and it was legit so I entered my email address but then it asked for my password. I did not enter it. I shut it down and immediately changed my password. I called the company and they told me the sender's email had been hacked and not to open it. I don't understand how this works. Is there a chance I am in trouble despite my not giving my email password?

You could be bombarded with spam, but try to
watch for strange Emails from unexpected places
and block them, if you don't recognise teh sender
then you probably don't want it anyway.

I hope that is all that will happen.

Mike.

Consider that you received an email that asked for your email address. That in itself indicates that there's something wrong with the email.

Good for you for changing your password. And, as @Mike said above, you may get a lot of spam due to verifying your email address to the sender.

email cant be trusted 100%, even if it looks like its from someone you know. never send personal info using email.. never reply to spam emails. :)

I have a simple rule, anyone contacting me has to identify themselves. On my phone I have an app that blocks all or whatever you want to set it up to do. They don't even get a chance to leave a message, best part (I think) is unidentified numbers don't get a chance to leave a message.
There are lots of things out there that work. Check things out and good luck.
