Saw this on TV today, thought it was interesting and showed some hope for those afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease. Video can be watched in link.

At age 61, Judi Polak is five years into a bleak diagnosis: Alzheimer’s disease. But last year she made medical history in a clinical trial, when a team of scientists, engineers and practitioners deployed a novel device to take aim at a big barrier in the fight against her illness. Science correspondent Miles O’Brien reports from Morgantown, West Virginia.

Makes sense....being around loud noises for an extended period of time can cause damage to the brain neurons....there have even been recent reports about the people in one of our embassies (China???) suffering damage from strange background noises. Perhaps if certain sounds can prove to be positive, and controlled, they might have a therapeutic effect on the brain.

I hope that it works too SeaBreeze, or leads to a different
thinking about the treatment and study of the problem.

Here they try some strange things, dancing helpe Parkinsons
Disease.

A friend who had several small strokes and now has dementia
according to his wife, goes singing several times a week, this is
a therapy being tried for the dementia, helps him to speak a bit
better.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, SB. As David Knopman, the interviewed Mayo Clinic researcher said in this piece, "If we need to take 100 shots on goal to find one that's good, I'm fine with that."
