Can you do this?

LONDON – Elderly women who start exercising regularly may be able to reduce their risk of falls that result in broken bones or other serious injuries, a small study suggests.

Researchers offered a group of women in their 70s supervised workouts combining balance and strength training three times a week for one year and found they were 62 percent less likely to be injured in falls over the next five years than peers who didn’t exercise.

It's not just "elderly women" who must try to exercise regularly....All people are at increased risk for serious falls if they become sedentary. Falls are one of the biggest reasons for injuries as we get older, and the best way to avoid falls is to stay as fit and active as possible.

Yes, exercise does improve bone density, balance & circulation. But exercise can be a double-edged sword. The wrong type of exercise or exercise that's not age appropriate can do serious damage - like what the lady in the photo is doing - if it's a real photo.

I'll stick with my daily walks.. :)
Yeah, me too😂

This is true but not exercising at all to challenge the body is probably the greater of the two in leading to health loss. Usually the ones who injure themselves are ones who suddenly start exercising at a pace they aren’t ready for or don’t really know what they are doing so injure themselves.

As far as the picture goes. It could be photoshopped but there’s a greater chance that it’s actually a woman in great shape who can do that.

Did you exercise when you lost weight?

I have been very active all my life, walk daily, do fire wood and the list goes on even to some weights. Stretching , kayaking and canoeing.
I enjoy most of these, the key is keep active and keep the mind alive. THIS works for me.
Positive thinking works wonders.
Smart thinking keeps you from being hurt.

Did you exercise when you lost weight?
Yes, but only a 20-30 minute walk 3 times/week. Exercise makes someone more hungry, so the more you exercise, the more you'll want to eat. Weight loss is 90% what you eat & only 10% exercise. I didn't eat less food; I just changed what I ate.
Those TV shows where overweight people are exercising like crazy? That's for drama, ratings & entertainment; it's not reality.

Ok my point being that you exercised. Quite often not exercising is what brings us pain and stiffness so I would still conclude that more people are injured due to lack of exercise than doing too much or doing it wrong. Plus I was talking more about exercise for maintaining strength in bones and muscles more for keeping balance and maintaining physical strength. Muscle atrophy increases at a certain age especially if not exercising.
