The Canada Post strike will end as of Tuesday December the 17th the Federal Government has announced to day. After 4 weeks of no deliveries across the country, the public and Canadian business operators were hounding the Government to end the strike. Here is a link to a news article with more details.

Too late for all the small businesses.

It won’t help those who had been waiting to mail presents for holidays.

I used to return Amazon parcels using them. Found a much better alternative for this as I expect many people have.

My CRA end of year forms are "in the mail stream " so once they actually arrive, I can do my GST refund application for my small business account. I will admit that I have not missed the junk mail clogging up my porch mail box. I used to use CP to do courier deliveries to the company in Edmonton that I buy and sell gold to. Now I have switched to using Purolater, instead.

On a related note...I see that the Finance Minister Crystia Freeland has resigned today. The rats are leaving the sinking ship in Ottawa. It will be interesting to see who actually has to stand up in The House today, to deliver the "economic report " ? Probably some no name back bencher, who has all ready announced they won't stand for reelection, in the spring of 2025. JIM.

So the strike was a giant waste of time for all involved.

The workers lost pay and benefits...small businesses got killed...the company will have to adjust to lost customers. Lose, lose, lose.

And they still haven't resolved anything.

Things continue to erode.

So there will be things to adjust to, but Canada can come through this much stronger if the right leadership comes in. I admit that I can't thread the needle on the process required to do this though. It looks chaotic with conflicting rules, but ultimately a selection by the powerful rather than an election. I just can't navigate the pachinko machine.
