Canada Seal Hunt: Please Sign the Petition

It’s time for Canada’s commercial seal hunt to end.
Every spring, seal pups between 3 weeks and 3 months of age are brutally shot, clubbed and skinned. Their carcasses are left to rot on the ice or dumped into the ocean.
Seals are dying needlessly for an industry that wouldn’t exist but for government subsidies. Most of the world no longer needs or wants seals products. Still the killing continues.
Canada’s new Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has a historic opportunity to end the commercial seal hunt once and for all.
Please take action today to save seals.
 
Signed! And not only is this cruel industry subsidized but the skins that are taken don't even have a market so they are being paid for by the government and simply piled up in a warehouse! One of our MP's did try to get a bill passed a couple years ago to pay out the sealers and our Green Party has as one of their statements of purpose, that the sealing industry should be paid out and ended. Even calling for retraining as desired......and yet we cater to a bunch of fishermen who only want to continue killing baby seals and resist learning new skills. It's disgusting.

(so where is Hoot and Bob and every other American who likes to get on our case when we discuss the happenings in the neighbour to the south of us or wherever, as we discuss an atrocious happening in my country? Not that I'm trying to be pissy or anything, I just want to make sure they are aware that we 'foreigners' are not as narrow minded and focused only on everyone else's problems, as they would like us to seem for the purposes of their 'arguments';))
