can't drive like I used to...

Good evening to all- We just got back yesterday from a fast up-fast back trip to the Ozarks- another family member died- memorial service.
I did get to fish a little bit on the way up there- caught a couple of nice rainbow trout in Missouri.
But I am tired from the drive back home. I used to be able to drive all day and most of the night and still be somewhat coherent and able to do a little bit of work when I got back home.
Now, I am used up and weary after an eight hour drive.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised at this- most things I used to do, I can still do, but it just takes longer and I feel like 20 miles of Arkansas dirt roads when I'm finished.
But we're still here, and we're still doing, so....
Good evening to all- Ed

I'm sorry to hear of the death in your family. I think many of us are not able to do what we once could without feeling the effects more now Ed. Glad you made it back safely.

I am sorry about your relative.

I never did 8-hour drives, even when I was young! :)

But the past couple of years I found that a 4-5 car trip was too much for my back. I wasn't even driving, just relaxing in the passenger seat. I know it's a good idea to stop every hour (or at least every 90 minutes) and get out and walk around, good for your circulation and muscles and bones and everything else.

I've also learned that if you want to actually do this, you need to keep plying your male driver with coffee so that he will WANT to stop that often! lol

Sorry for your loss Ed. An 8 hour drive is long at any age, and the roads do make a difference. We just drove around 4+ hours coming back from a camping trip, and even the furkids were spent....rest up, it's all good! :)

I'm sorry to hear of you loss. An eight hour drive would make me jittery and shaky, from the lack of good food and adequate things to drink. I don't like parking my hiney on the car seat for that long. It might go to sleep. grin.
