I've wanted to get open water certification since last year, but surgery postponed the possibility of certification until the present. Last week, I started certification again last week. I forgot everything I learned the year before, so I was not prepared and so I stopped trying.

National Aquatic Service is an SDI OWC 39 miles one way. Pool opens 5:00pm-7:00pm. Travel and time are a challenge. I don't know if I seriously want to do this.

With so many obstacles to overcome, perhaps the message is simply to remember the excitement of the effort, and be content with that.

I'm glad you started this topic, Mr. Ed, because I have wondered many times where you would scuba dive once you were certified.

It's obvious to me that you're not afraid of apex sea creatures.

I've tried wearing a mask and snorkel a few times and right away I start breathing erratically. I don't know if it's my claustrophobia coming out or what, but the fear factor of apex predators has kept me out of the water for years.
