Catch 22s are getting me down.

As I age, I keep getting caught up in "catch22's". For instance, I'm wheel chair bound. Sitting in it for hours hurts me. So, my MD prescribed a gel foam cushion. To get one I need to have the measurements of my wheelchair. Yet, the nurse can't measure my wheel chair, unless the insurance company gives the OK. But you can't order one without the measurements. And you need an order to submit to the insurance company. Catch 22
I don't know why, but I keep running into Catch22 after Catch 22.

I think "catch-22"s are standard operating procedure in insurance companies.
You have to do A to get B but not before C and D.

If your MD prescribed it, I don't see why you can't go ahead and get it measured. Did you get a written prescription from the doc? If the nurse won't measure maybe you can find someone who will. Can you order on your own without going through insurance? Can you look up the make/model of your w/c and get the seat size from their specs? I'm sorry about the pain, hope you can resolve this soon.

So sadly true! My dad's bone and and joint physician got turned down for a medication for my dad's extremely bad osteoporosis which would be a daily self-administered injection. His bones are so porous that that if he falls he could easily break a hip or worse. The reason for the denial is because he hasn't been tried on another osteoporosis medication which is an oral one such as Actonol which has been shown to result in jaw bone breakage, thigh bone breakage etc. especially for older people. So, he has to put himself in danger of worse conditions to satisfy the insurance company.

Ever notice insurance commercials never tell you a single thing about insurance?. Progressive says they insure motor cycles. State Farm says they are there like a good neighbor. Farmers says they know a thing or two because they have seen a thing or two. The General lets you know Shack is still alive. A little green lizard from Australia illustrates the fact that he is small.
