Cats just wanna have fun,

I had a cat who would bring me his favorite toy. It was in his mouth and he would come over to me and drop it at my feet so I would pick it up and throw it. He brought it back only sometimes, usually he was just "asking" me to throw it for him so it would bounce and he would go after it. All my cats did this/do this to some extent, but for this particular cat it was almost a daily habit.

Out of all of my cats, I only had one when I was a kid that would fetch. This guy also learned to open the door between the upstairs of the house & the basement by holding onto the knob & turning it until it popped open. If we wanted him to stay put, we had to lock it, LOL.

My first cat was able to stand on a chair, turn the knob, then rush down to pull the door open completely. It made a very particular sound. After he died, we still heard the sound. We would rush into that room & the closet door had not been opened. I told him he had to leave (why did I do that?) and the noise stopped. I had a witness.

I had one that did that as well. He would wait until he heard people in the kitchen and then start rattling the knob. Eventually it would open.

I play catch with our kitty. I roll a soft little ball to her and she bats it back to me. This can go on for a little while until one of us gets bored.:D
My orange kitty like candy wrapped in cellophane because it was easy to catch. When we were redoing a house we had a 6 foot ladder set up for quite some time. He would climb the ladder and we would toss a candy at him and he would usually throw it back to much applause.

Especially girl cats, it seems. My girl cat plays all day. The boy sleeps all day. He's a few years older than her, but he's never played with his toys. She does. And she loves when I make her a new toy. (I make 'em out of random junk and pieces of fabric)

Also, she's a lot smarter than him. I wonder if girl cats are generally smarter than boy cats.
