This happened yesterday afternoon, on my daily commute route. I was off yesterday, so thankfully wasn't stuck in the traffic slowdown that ensued.

Yeah, the truck driver either must have figured that playing dumb was the 'smart' move', or else he's on his 7th beer....

Hard to believe the truck driver didn't see that car in his side view mirror and even harder to believe that nobody received a ticket at least for careless driving. Glad the guy in the car is okay.

"and the CHP said no crime was committed"----WHAT*!?#!%=@???

I hope a civil lawyer sued the heck out of the driver and company. That's ZERO situation awareness. This toad might have actually killed someone in the past with his driving "skill" and not even know it.

My guess is the CHP knows the guy had CDL and he received some tickets that would've jeopardized his license and job and took pity.

Man when I saw the headline I thought a tow truck driver lost his car or something.

In my experience with the CHP, most traffic officers would write their own grandmother a ticket for a moving traffic violation.

I'm not going to be too harsh on the truck driver. Mistakes happen. Plus, he was hauling two heavy trailers in tandem, which might've made it difficult to feel the extra weight. As for looking in his rear view, yeah, he should have. Had the truck driver done that he most likely would have seen the car hooked to his rear wheel. But then again, a lot of drivers don't constantly check their rear view mirror either.

Definitely the fault of the trucker but maybe he's got a good record and thus, deserves a chance.
