Did your Mam and Dad insist on a chaperone going with you on dates?


I once dated a girl who had her Auntie in tow, but we both decided that we were not suited, however, her Auntie made it crystal clear that she and I could be an item......I declined because at 37, she was far too old for me.

No. I'm a guy. Apparently, my virtue didn't need protection. The only words of wisdom I got about dating was what my mom said, as I left for the prom. She said, " If you get her pregnant, don't come crying to us about it". Good, ol' Mom.

Never had a chaperone. They'd gone the way of the horse and buggy by the late 60s.

Never! If a gal had a clingy mom who wanted to sit with us when I stopped by, that social call was my first, and last! I liked bad girls.

My mom's attempts to try and control my unbridled libido consisted of pounding on my locked bedroom door, when she got home from work, and shouting, "You kids better stop what you're doing in there. You'll get her pregnant!"

Bea, I don't recall ever seeing one of those contraptions, but, I'll bet that those that had them must have got a few splinters in strange places..

The only chaperones that I remember were the adult (teachers) who chaperoned the high school dances.
