Char Siu One of my favorite meals.

What? No side dish of white rice? Do I detect a hint of sauce there?

That's how they serve it in my neck of the woods. We have plenty of Chinese restaurants.

And there are two types of Chinese food here. Canton and Sechuan.

One particular restaurant serves what they previously called Senior portions.

Now they call it smaller portions .

All good stuff.

I just can't see using a plate of char siu with rice or whatever being a meal. To me it would be part of a meal such as with noodles and such or added to an Asian salad. It would be bits and pieces of a meal. I live in Hawaii and it would never be served as the way shown in your plate as a main part of a meal.

What cut of pork is used for this dish, looks by the size of the pieces to be pork tenderloin. Looks good. I would like it with rice and a nice cherry sauce.

I can get into suma that
With a little dish of hot mustard
I can easily turn that snack into an entrée
Yessir
Calls for tea, hot or iced

When you live alone, that's a meal.

Char Siu is very similar to teriyaki. Get a good brand of teriyaki sauce - NOT Kikkoman, always much too salty - throw in a small glugg of decent sherry and marinate boneless country spareribs for a couple of hours, then slow-roast. I use the Soy Vay brand when I'm too lazy to mix the marinade. Then I sprinkle it with more sesame seeds because I love them!
