Cherishing Our Time Here On Earth, and Not Wasting It Dwelling on the Past or Fearing the Future

That was awesome, Sea.

I went through a period of pretty much total paralysis for about 5 years after my wife was killed, and another two years passed before I could say I had truly recovered.

It's interesting you mention Buddhism in the original post, because my recovery started after meeting a Buddhist. I was on Karon Beach in Thailand one evening, just sitting and watching the surf. I hadn't surfed since she died, and this local guy came from out of nowhere and said "You look like you want to be out there. I'll go with you. I surf it all the time."

Long story short, turns out he's a Buddhist, and we talked a lot after that. Every day. I didn't get on the water that year, but I did when I went back a couple years later. Wish he'd have been there. (he was fine, he just wasn't in Trang)

Dwelling or meandering not good. Reflecting Ok.

It's a movie line but in the movie Point Break Patrick Swayze's character said something to effect 'fear causes hesitation, hesitation makes your worst nightmare come true'

Sometimes you just have to live life for a while then think about it, make adjustments etc. Life has to happen in order to have something to think about and/or act on.
