China cap strainer

I have a chinois (a.k.a. China cap) food mill very similar to the one in the attached photo. However, somehow over the years, I lost the wooden pestle. I've seen some department stores have it as a set - I only need the pestle. Does anyone know where I can obtain just the pestle in a brick & mortar store (since I can't shop online - don't ask).

Maybe a thrift shop? An antique or second hand store? Near Buffalo there is a 5 & dime type store called Vidlers that is a throw back to the old 5 and dimes, like Woolworths and such, that carry stuff like that. Do you have any store on that order near you?
As I type this, I had a flash of checking a hardware store or craft store that has pieces in that shape that would serve the same purpose.

I haven't seen one in years.

I would try using the back of a pointed kitchen spoon.

Too bad, because they're out there, for under $10 on Amazon

Looks like you'll have to spring for another food mill @ $40

...or find someone with a lathe

Can you get someone to order you one from Amazon, there only $10 bucks n for another $3 you get the mortar a cute little marble bowl!
