Christmas Gift: Trojan Horse For Covid?

I have a very nice neighbor who brought me a plate of Christmas pastries. Should I eat them or are they a Trojan horse for covid? I hate the idea of throwing them away. They look so damn good.

I mailed 30 boxes of Christmas cookies around the country and had over a dozen people pick up boxes of cookies (and pizza!). Not a single cookie or slice of pizza was thrown away, I guarantee it!

From everything I've read, baked gifts are safe.

From Huff Post:

"If you’re not feeling well, do not bake ― especially if you are coughing or sneezing. “Practically the only way transmission might occur is if you sneeze or cough on the packaging and the person receiving the gift touches the packaging in less than 24 hours and then touches their nose, mouth or eyes,” Briggs said."

From Johns Hopkins:

'What about baked goods? Cookies, for example — whether homemade or baked and sold in a bakery or grocery store — are they safe to eat?

There is no known evidence that the coronavirus is transmitted through foods such as baked goods. When baking at home, always follow general food safety guidelines: wash hands before preparing foods, prepare foods in a clean environment and don’t eat raw dough or batter."

Chet, are you my neighbor? Because I left neighbors with trays also and boy I hope they don’t throw them away!!!! 😂

Baked goods, and pastries, are one of the nicest "gifts", IMO. My wife has mastered the art of making chocolate chip cookies, and she has the entire family "hooked" on them. Whenever we are planning on any kind of get-together, she makes a huge batch and everyone sits around stuffing themselves.

Covid, if it happened to be there, has a short term existence on food. Wait a couple of days, if you’re really worried.
