Is there any item of food or drink that you enjoy exclusively at Chrismastime ?

I always make and enjoy our rich plum pudding with custard Christmas Day it’s a bit silly in a way because it’s useally fairly hot here in Australia Christmas time but it’s a tradition with many in my age group, allot of younger people now have pavlovas and other types of cold deserts at lunch time
Christmas evening meal time desert is useally trifle

I make hot cider, and fudge and rocky road as my once-a-year Christmas treats. I keep some of the chocolates to serve to the fam, and the rest I include with the Christmas plates of baked goodies I give to a few people as gifts. The cider I serve Christmas morning as part of the huge Christmas breakfast I serve in place of the traditional Christmas dinner.

She promised me some this year

Some begging and wheedling was involved

Basic Xmas treat .. peppermint Candy Canes (NOT other flavours).

Red Dubonnet (on the rocks) wouldn't go astray either.

Mashed potatoes, gravy, ham and later, a Bud Light. My wife has a bottle of cheaper wine in the frig as well as a bottle of champagne. That will probably wait until New Years Eve.

I don't drink alcohol, so nothing to look forward to there, but although I eat Wild smoked salmon and trout throughout the year. there's something special about the one I can buy at Christmas covered in Gold leaf... makes no difference to the taste, but it's just nice to have once a year!!

Ah Hollydolly. Smoked Salmon... we buy it from Scotland's oldest smokehouse in Peterhead. It was founded in 1588 and continues to use traditional smoking methods. We bought our daughter's in-laws a hand-sliced side of smoked salmon for Christmas.

Another treat we have is a whole Serrano ham. I don't drink a lot - I spill most of it :D

Capt, lucky you having the Peterhead smokehouse nearby ...We're fortunate that we have a home in Spain so we eat Serrano ham when we're over there a lot... however tell me how you manage to use a whole Serrano ham in just 12 months?... I think it would take me 5 years to get through a whole one... :D

Decorated gingerbread cookies, special chocolates,( including cherries )
eggnog straight up :laugh:My husband will get shrimp and other yucky stuff that I don’t eat.
A big maple glazed ham with cloves and pineapple
And of course specialty special treats cause I don’t drink

Oh and a very special decorated chocolate caramel covered apple and super yummy hot chocolate in scrumptious flavours
Ill try and put pictures between when I get them and when I finish them

Hollydolly, A Serrano ham doesn't last too long in our house, especially when our (adult) children see it. If I could get it here, I'd prefer an Ardennes ham, but I haven't seen it here, in store or on-line. I'll have to buy a load when I'm back in Belgium.

Now how's this for a Christmas pressie? Our friends who own the smallholding bought us an oak whisky hogshead (unfortunately empty) to convert into a smoker. The only problem is that they have one too, and guess who will be asked to help them convert theirs! They want to cold smoke our own 'home grown' rare breed Berkshire pork to make hams, pancetta etc.. We are more thinking of hot smoking chicken, fish etc.

We also have some small specialist companies locally that make chorizo, salamis etc.. I must contact them some time.

I have to have Pfeffernusse cookies and they have to be Archway brand. I'm not suppose to eat them because of the gluten but I always eat two. I'm not dead yet. I will also make myself some gluten free cookies which I never do throughout the year.

My wife's cinnamon rolls. She makes cinnamon rolls from time to time throughout the year, but the ones she makes on Christmas morning are always extra special. :love_heart:
