Chronic Sinus Issue, .... Swelling and Numbness in the right side of my face

Hello:
About two weeks ago, I started to notice the right side of my face felt 'swelling along with numbness' that occurred after eating 'carry-out sandwitch. I went to see my GP who rx'ed 'antibiotic.' However, the antibiotic didn't touch any .... it's the same, no any effect at all.

Afterwards, he advised me to see 'ETN specialist' who rx'ed a different type of Antibiotic on which I've been for five days and only slight effect on swelling and numbness in the right side of my face. He told me that I need 'Surgery' if this Antibiotic didn't help.

As much I hate 'Surgery' on my sinus on the right of my face as knowing that I did it when I was in the middle school, back late '60s.

Any inputs on this regard would be truly appreciated.

Thanks,

If it's connected to the sandwich, it could be an allergic reaction. Did your doctor suggest seeing a dentist, in case a tooth is involved? Is it possible that something in the sandwich has become lodged in a tooth, or caused an infection in the gum?

Both GP and ETN specialist ruled out 'tooth-involment,' only Sinus related issue. Sandwith is only concidental and got better with Antibiotic and Sinus issue is still pending.
As for Surgery, I genuinely want to avoid since I'm over in my '70 and other health issue, i.e. Arthritis, HB and other minor health issue to deal with.

I'm having something similar. Discomfort in my left sinus and in the area of an an upper left back molar. It's been going on for several weeks. Some days are worse than others but it's obviously not going to get better on it's own. From what I've been told it's most likely a dental issue. So I made an appointment with my dentist for this coming Tuesday. I'll let you know what he says.

The sandwich is probably a red herring. It's pollen season so it may be affecting you. Going from a hot outside to inside AC can affect you as well. If there is no pain, wait it out. It may go away by itself. Also, when you mentioned one side of your face, I was reminded of my neighbor whose stoke distorted one side of his face. Don't have 100% faith in your doctor either.

If your nose is running all the time it's an allergy or a familial inheritance.

Everyone in my immediate family has the running nose syndrome.

It's so bad because you don't notice it and people are handing you tissues.

I suffer from left sinus problems, I bought a Vicks mist inhaler from Amazon. 4 treatments and gone!!! I had bad sinus headaches for a month!! All fixed!!

They took a couple of X-rays and the dentist poked around with his little pointy thing and dug a couple of chunks of food debris out and the pain went away. He said no infection, no tooth decay just poor oral hygiene. Told me to try a water pick which I have. I like the water pick. It's a lot easier on the gums than floss. And that water pressure really blows those chunks of food out from between my teeth. But I gotta get used to it so I don't open my mouth, or take it out of my mouth while it's still going and spray water all over me and the bathroom.

Cost me 80 bucks at the dentist plus another 44 at Walmart for the water pick.

I have a water pick, too, and I've had the experience of blasting water in my face and all over the place! Ugh.

I hate doctors and hospitals. So my rule of thumb is this.
Unless, I know it's either broken or a life and death issue...
I wait several days to see if my body naturally heals itself
[which it usually does] before I contact a doctor [who is
usually as clueless as I am as to the cause.]
