Closing costs are mind-blowing!

I feel like we're taking one step forward and two back through this home buying process.

Our lender that we thought we were going to go through sent us yesterday the Loan Estimate. I almost fell on the floor when I saw what the closing costs were. From everything I've read, closing costs should be around 3-4% of the loan amount. The average is 3.8%. This lender is charging 6%.

I shopped around yesterday after I got the estimate (and I had tried to contact them, but no one is there on Mondays...what?), so I applied at a different lender that's highly recommended by Bankrate, Nerdwallet, etc., and sure enough, their closing is 3.8%. Why would I pay over $3,000 more at my first lender's??

Isn't that crazy? I've watched many Youtube videos that said to shop for lender's because they're not all created equal.

Oh yes, the crooks are out there in abundant! I have tried to cancel an apartment insurance policy. I got a lot of letters from the company. They told me I had to fill in a form that I felt was nonesense. My letter asking to cancel was not enough. This morning I wrote them a very nasty letter. As one friend told me about the business world, "everyone seems to be screwing everyone else." I really believe that. Customers are not important. The bottom line is important. The service many companies provide really stink! Gee! I'm glad I'm retired. I wish ill-will to all these companies that provide bad service. They don't deserve to stay in business.

@Packerjohn It’s seems like they’re just trying to claim you need to pay for an extra month.
I just wanted to cancel my insurance. Why does it have to involve many letters from the insurance lady to me. Isn't my word that I want to cancel enough? Why do I have to go through some sort of communist red tape to get anything done? No matter how many smartphones out there and no matter how many computers, the business is getting deeper and deeper into bureaucratic bumblings and I'm afraid I don't like it. What happend to efficiency? What happened to good customer vibes? What happened to service? All I ever get these days are those stupid e-mails asking me how some business is doing? I don't want a chance to win their miserable $1,000. I want honest, decent, friendly service and it's getting to be rare like "hen's teeth."

These annoy me so much that I don’t want to go in their stores. Canadian Tire is one of the worst for wanting to know how my shopping experience was.
