Have you experienced coincidences which astonished you in some way ?

I''ll Start.

About 5 years ago, the O/H and I were in Marbella Spain, visiting our daughter who lived and worked in the vast mountains in the Malaga region.

He and I were at the port, just having a drink and a stroll... and I was taking photos of him.
A couple about in their 70s stopped and asked would we like them to take a picture of both of us. We got talking and we said we were there to visit our daughter.

They said they also lived in the mountains but in the village rather than the Campo where my daughter lived..

They asked her name.. and we told them, and it turned out they were great friends of hers.. as well as customers... so we rang her there and then and told her we had some people who said they knew here.. and she was delighted to speak to them.

What are the chances in a country 4 times the size of the Uk someone would approach us who were friends with our Daughter ?

Mostly I have tales of running into people who are friends-of-friends in odd places.

We were in Rome and I was browsing in a shoe store while my husband was standing outside. I overheard an American teenage girl say to her friend, "I must be going crazy; I think I just saw my older brother's best friend outside, but it can't be." The other girl asked, "Who was it?" The first girl said my husband's name (we have an unusual last name). I turned around and said, "Yes, you did see him."

On the same trip, we were supposed to be meeting up with some friends but arrangements got mixed up and we didn't know where they were staying and vice-versa. No cell phones in those days, so we thought we were out of luck. I was chatting with an older American couple and told them we were visiting from Turkey and the wife said, "Oh, what a coincidence! We were just on the ferry from Greece and met a nice young American couple who used to live in Turkey." I asked their names and she said our friends' names. I asked if she knew where they were staying and she said it was at their hotel. We managed to meet up after all, just because I was chatting idly with another tourist.

On one of my first days in Turkey, I was heading to a laundromat with my dirty clothes in a shopping bag with the name of a large department store in my home city. An Air Force guy stopped me and asked if I was from that city. Yes, and then he asked me where I went to high school. Same as him. Same graduating year, too. Big graduating class so we didn't know each other, but still........

A male friend of mine hadn't been in touch with his brother for a long time. He got divorced and with his share of the marital proceedings he took himself off alone on a train journey through India...

He'd been travelling on the train for about 3 days with various stops along the way .. when they stopped for a several hours break in Mumbai...

There was hundreds of people trying to sell their wares.. and equally hundreds travelling on the train who got off to stretch their legs, and et or rest..

My friend was walking through Mumbai... again crowds of people.. and he thought he heard somene call his name.. 3 times he heard it, and finally he looked up.. and there was his brother on the roof of a bulding in Mumbai caling down to him...... working I think, I can't remember the story fully...but neither of these guys are Indian so it wasn't their home, and neither knew the other was going to India... what are the chances of that happening ?
