College and NBA Basketball star Bill Walton has passed away at 71

I was in HS when he played at UCLA. He was amazing. A unique man. My dad loved watching him play that year with the Celtics for the title. I saw that 30 for 30 again the day he died. A great father too. Finally, saw it was colon cancer that got him. Got my youngest brother when he was 44. If Bill had normal feet he is top five all time in NBA history. He said Bill Russell was the best. I agree with him. You could see Russell's game in Bill. His outlet passes were a thing of beauty.

I remember him being a free spirit or hippy but there was something that annoyed me in the 70s until I recently heard about things like his anti war stance. And his acquaintance with a member of the SLA/family in the 1970s -The radicals that kidnapped and recruited Patty Hearst. He wound up having an interview with the FBI in part because of his activism in addition to his knowing the family/SLA member.

Why Patty Hearst still fascinates America (and Bill Walton)

His basketball career in college, NBA and broadcast booth is still something to note.
