Colorado Springs facility had 25 kids but was licensed for 6.

A woman who kept more than two dozen kids behind a false wall in a basement was sentenced to six years in prison Thursday. Carla Faith was found guilty of 26 counts of child abuse, and some other charges, including running a daycare without a license, in August. Police found the kids at a house at the Colorado Springs woman’s Mountain Play Place facility in November 2019, following up on tips that she had more kids there than the six her license allowed.

When the states got rid of their psychiatric hospitals, all these " group homes" sprung up. It was a cynical thing to do. You can't expect that patients, who have been institutionalized for years, are going to adjust to a group home, with little supervision. Or that pts. with severe diagnoses, are going to do well in group homes. And for the pts., who acted up in a group home, they were shipped off to prison. In prison, nobody has to worry a patients rights, or other patient related legalities. And it was pure co-incidence that some of the now closed group homes were owned by legislators. And now that state funds for group homes have dried up, the sketchy ones hang on. And then there's atrocities, like the Mountain Play Place.
