Commercials that kept you from buying or using something

Are there any commercials that you have seen that caused you to not buy or use something you might have otherwise bought or used.

The Halos tangerine commercials where children do negative things because their parent didn't get them Halos tangerines made me not buy Halo tangerines specifically and tangerines generally.

The ones where they show the food dripping down chins never make me hungry for the product.

There was a car ad last Christmas where the neighbors were so proud of all the stuff they got at the store and then the car new owner said something like, 'I just got this" and the neighbor's face would fall. Sad, that.

The girl spitting blood from her gums...it always seems to be on when I'm eating! Any ad which shows children with bad table manners, jumping on beds (especially in hotels), or being generally obnoxious. The odd couple getting all excited over funeral arrangements.....

Any commercial that plays repeatedly during a show (usually the news) and then day after day after month.

The cheapo commercial where the business owner thinks he has acting skills. Even worse when they write a little song to go with it.

I almost wear out my remote while watching tv...between switching channels or hitting the mute button, when some of these stupid commercials come on. There is a home "warranty" commercial that comes on our local stations, that makes me dive for the remote....it was written by people who obviously have excess time on their hands. I would Never contact that company.

I studied a little on media influence and mass marketing/advertising during my college days nd have always kept up on the subject. One holds true and that is the majority of commercials are designed to aggravate the readers/listeners and viewers. Why? You remember the person that pissed you off not the person that did not.

There is a car hire company in the UK attempting to appeal to a section of the older community who may want to feel smug, for example showing parents dismissing their daughters phone call telling them she's pregnant, by replying, "That's nothing, I just got such and such a deal on car hire, and that makes me drive happy"!

Its intended to shock a little, and is maybe done "tongue in cheek" by the advertisers, so their company's name gets the recognition they desire, but it doesn't attract me very much. :sneaky:.

What about the Sheba cat food commercial where the young son yells to his mom "Mom. I fell." Mom with a cat on her shoulder replies, "There are bandages in the closet." The son replies back, "I'm bleeding!" Mom replies. "Get two" smiling at her cat. Mother of the year? Not!

I kind of like that commercial. If I had a cat (which will never happen because I'm allergic to them) I'd take a look at Sheba to see how it compared by my current brand if I wasn't already using it.

Is that the one where the lady is smiling happily as water shoots out all over her sandwich, and the guy beams as clothes fly out of his clothes dryer? :ROFLMAO:

There are often commercials from which I can't even grasp what they're advertising because of annoying-as-heck speech fads.
First there was up-talk. Then there was vocal-fry. During the last couple of years, it's been an extremely-exaggerated way of pronouncing and dragging out vowels.. previously it was the 'e,' now it's the 'o.' Does anybody know what it's called?

I wouldn't buy anything that that awful Flo is selling, or anything that Limu Imu guy is selling either. Those are the most irritating commercials ever -- like nails on a blackboard. I don't see many commercials because I don't have cable or over the air TV, but once in a while a commercial sneaks in on something I'm watching on Youtube.

That one is stupid but there is one funny part - while the air conditioner is blowing the lady in the chair out of the house & a big piece of paper hits her face & stays there.
