Should a person communicating with a person by cell phone already in the act of suicide be charged with manslaughter for encouraging their decision if they complete the act?

Teenager talked with and talked another already in the act of suicide into completing their act.

It's really not cyber bullying and as far as she knows was truely encouraging her friend or telling him what he wanted to hear. On the other hand there are laws against assisted suicide.

I don't know about the legality of it, I think if she physically assisted his suicide it would be different. Having said that, encouraging anyone to take their life is despicable and irresponsible, she should hold that guilt forever. but doesn't sound like she will. I think anyone should be able to take their lives if they want, especially those suffering with terminal conditions. This girl is either very manipulative or needs mental help herself. If I had a friend who was thinking of taking his life, I'd either try to tell him reasons why he shouldn't do it, or I'd shut up and stay out of it.

I've frequently heard most who really want to commit suicide actually complete the act. Once they are there they complete the act. This guy was ambivalent getting out of the truck. That being said too many teens simply can't handle the negative the way many had to years ago. So both the girl and guy probably saw suicide as the answer in their minds.

According to articles I've read over the years and a personal family experience those who are actually committed to the act of suicide cannot be stopped. They just do it. No announcements, nothing. They simply kill themselves. Threatening suicide is more often associated with a cry for help or attention. SB is right encouraging it in another is a horrible thing but I can't imagine it being prosecutable in court. I know of cases where someone on a window ledge is "encouraged" by onlookers who shout "jump".
