Considering a New Dentist

The one I am currently going to keeps cutting back on services and raising prices. She is not a "full service" practice (doesn't do extractions) and no longer gives out "goodie bags" with toothpaste samples, floss and a new toothbrush any longer. The last time I went she didn't do a pumice polish after scaling. I asked why she wasn't doing that any longer and she said it was because she felt it actually damaged teeth. When I first started going to her a few years ago it was about $225 for a visit. Last time (no free samples or polishing) was $375 including bite-wing x-rays.

I called the office of the dentist that pulled my broken tooth last August on an emergency basis. I though I could get my choice of appointmernt times in June calling now. He's booked up through July already!

Deb, does your dentist do the cleaning? My dentist has several hygienists. They recommend doing the pumice cleaning less often as it can wear down the enamel.

There must be a shortage of dentists in your area. Keep looking around for someone right out of dental school who’s setting up a new practice. Maybe you could call the dental society/college and see if they have someone new in your area.

I have a discount dentist. So yesterday my front tooth fell out and he put in back in. Three hours later it fell out again after I ate a corn chip. Now I have to return!😞
