Building construction and building booms might be considered progress but they are also produce a lot of debris that has to be disposed of some where. Apparently a NYC building boom lead to illegal dumping out of the city.

Too many stories where major cities are having a problem with illegal dumping of debris. Some are just starting to crack down.

I see it in residential neighborhoods with hack contractors trash burning including vinyl siding, plastics and treated/painted lumber from a house project. They are polluting and basically dumping their debris into the air.

Most of the illegal dumping in my area is due to the tightening controls on recycling/trash pickup.

Many vacant lots are being littered with old televisions, air conditioners, tires, propane tanks, etc...

I don't see a solution other than cracking down on enforcement or setting up some more convenient ways for people to dispose of things.

I agree but residential and commercial construction debris are different stories. Most residents don't throw out the quantities or industrial materials associated with new construction with any regularity. Alot of residents really don't get it either. They think their old tv is meaningless in the scope of things. There are still people that try and throw out things like unused cans and buckets of paint, plaster, driveway sealer etc. They throw out gas powered law equipment with gas in the tank-they don't get and obviously don't care.
