Cost of hotel rooms

@Supernatural Find a place for kitty at a cattery. Whatever it costs, it will decrease the cost of your trip substantially. Kitty doesn’t know when it is or when it isn’t on a vacation. As long as it’s safe and gets a few cuddles, kitty will be happy.

Car rentals are the most greedy and if you need a rental there’s no choice.

I have been to Australia (6 months) and New Zealand (1 1/2 months) on house and car exchanges. We found exchange partners through a "seniors house exchange" site. The husband of the Australian exchange is a Canadian with family in the area; the New Zealander had a "batch" and we were able to do a non simultaneous exchange as I had a basement suite.

It's pretty bad in Europe too. I've booked an apartment in Lisbon in September and costs seem to be around 150 euro upwards per night. However, the highest prices seem to be for the overnight ferry from England to The Netherlands. You can pay as much for a miserable little cabin (breakfast extra) as you would for a nice room in 4 star hotel with breakfast.

Cost of Hotel Rooms Post-Pandemic. WTH! (Pardon the Bleep🙃)

Daughter and I were planning a day trip next month. We have good travel prices by bus and by train.

However, I was punched so hard, became out of breath when I saw the prices for one night in a hotel which was known for great services, pet-friendly and incredibly low prices.

Youch! Take the swords out of my body right now.... Bleep, bleep!

Seriously, an average of £499.00 for 2 adults, one bed required (at least double) and accepting our wee black kitty.

To possibly get, but not guaranteed £69.95 for one night same situation, we'd have to wait until Sunday 3 September 2023.

Yes, and I'm being polite about it, we all understand that the travel/tourist industry took a beating, thanks to the Pandemic...but seriously??? What the heck are they thinking???

We'll be back to doing a simple day trip and hoping thatour wee kitten will be okay all alone for that long. Seriously worried now about having a stress-free day way for healing and recuperation.

It might bring tears to your eyes and soul... So sad how greedy it's been. We didn't cause this Pandemic, right?

Your opinions, please?
I would refuse to pay these prices. It's called "White Collar Crime" in my book. This is where the buck stops!

I just returned from a 2-night work trip and although prices were considerably higher than in the past, it was $154 a night but that was with a 20% company discount, so it would have been close to $200/night without the discount. I don't think it was very bad... nice hotel with a great balcony and incredible hot breakfast buffet. Still glad I'll be reimbursed for travel expenses, though. ☺️

Caught this in my recommended videos. If you could, would you give it a go?
