Could this be the answer to preventing and fighting forest fires ?

It's just a tool that may have some useful applications in a very limited location.
However, to answer to your question: "Could this be the answer to preventing and fighting forest fires?"
I would have to answer "No" to that.

The answer to preventing wildfires is to remove the conditions. Since you can't remove the people who start them (Accidentally or on purpose), and you can't change the climate anytime soon, then you can only focus on trying to remove the vegetation, and since you need it to control erosion and add some aesthetic appeal to the landscape, it's a real challenge.

As for fighting the fires, I still see it as a multi-prong approach. Aircraft, ground tankers, strategic maneuvers (Backfires and fire lines), and crews on the ground.

This tool might work in a few situations, but I think they would be limited. Fires are not predictable. Winds can be erratic, and change quickly, taking the fire in another direction. I have personally watched it happen.

Winds picked up on Tuesday in southern California and at least a couple of new wildfires broke out as firefighters remained on alert in extreme fire weather, two weeks after two major blazes started that are still burning in the Los Angeles area.

What a nightmare. :(

Meanwhile, here in Toronto the actual air temperature this morning was minus 17C, with a minus 27C wind chill factor. JIM.
