I agree. It's still alive here. I live in a medium sized town.I think it is. Obviously in a larger city like where I live it isn't seen as much as a smaller town but I am surprised most times I go out examples of common courtesy. On the flip side I do see a lot more jerks but overall I think most people do exhibit some behaviours of common courtesy.
Oh, online I would say that it is lacking. It has been that way for nearly 30 years now. I have been guilty before of disregarding courtesy in a heated discussion. I try to watch my behaviour these days but even as recently as a month ago I slipped. I think anomiminity is a huge part of it but I also think people can get more heated when using the written word instead of being verbal with their thoughts. Not justifying the behaviour at all though.
I am surprised though, online, just how rude and sarcastic some people are.
Also some ask for help and then say TIA. It took me awhile to figure out that means Thanks In Advance. I think, hey, why not thank them AFTER they help you as you could comment on how they helped etc. It would be nicer and more personal.
Now driving is another thing, but I'm beginning to think people just don't know any better, or don't think about it from anyone else's point of view.
I think I'm living among the Stepford wives. Surely they're all on Kava or (what's that other thing ?) kryptonite?
