Covid Almost Killed Me

In December 2022, I got Covid on a city bus. Not knowing I had been exposed to it, I went home and exposed my family to it. My wife Cindy got it and passed away January 24, 2023, and I spent a total of 96 days in three different hospitals. Over the previous 25 years I had only had a handful of minor colds, which lasted a week. Since I got out of the third hospital last April, I have been sick with colds, flu, etc. at least half the time. Covid trashed my lungs. So I tell people, IF you can wear filter masks, you really should. Even now that the pandemic is supposedly over. Specially if you have any lung related problems. You do not want Covid...

I’m so sorry about your wife and your poor health. A good friend of mine died in November 22 but his wife survived. Long covid is awful. Luckily the more recent variant is not as deadly.

Please accept my condolences. I am still being careful and pick up groceries rather than going into a store for them. Being an introvert my natural inclination is to stay away from people. That does seem to be more socially acceptable now.

Long covid truly is awful. But I haven't lost my comedic nature. I make jokes about how my voice sounds like Nick Nolte. I go out to the courtyard of my apartment building and have wheelchair drag races with some of my neighbors. Some of my neighbors come over and we have pizza movie night. So I still manage to be happy go lucky me.

Please accept my condolences.
Thank you.

I’m glad you are able to still have fun. That’s all we can do is to enjoy the time we have left. It’s what our loved ones would want us to do.

Axel: What bad luck you have been having. So sorry about the passing of your dear wife. Keeping your sense of humour is so important for a happy life. Hang in there better days are ahead.
