Cow Creamers

Who remembers cow creamers? They date back to the late eighteenth century, but they're still made today. However, I haven't seen one used since the early sixties. They exist in pottery as well as silver. I found this site owned by a true fanatic. It's wonderful.

They work quite well for syrup and brandy sauce.

Cow creamers are great collectibles.

This is a very old one from England, it must have been hard to clean the inside!

I don't ever remember my mother having one, but they are charming.

I had my mother's when I was a child. It was a sitting cow with black and white spots. I broke it.

Our neighbor had a cow creamer and always used it to serve milk (she didn't have cream). She was not a little old lady. She was probably in her late twenties. She used it for both regular meals and afternoon coffee.
