Cracker Jacks

Awhile back somebody made a post about it.

Yesterday I got to thinking about it, so I bought a box to try them while watching the football game.

I've got news for you; Things have changed; The box is like a child-proof medicine bottle.

I had to cut into the box with kitchen shears to get at the Cracker Jacks.

By the time I got it open, it was half time at the game.

Let's not even get into the "prize" in the box.

Things have changed. I long for the good old days.

Yes, Falcon, I may have been the one that posted about the Cracker Jacks, I'm still upset about it. So many more important things to think about than Cracker Jacks but it irritated me to no end. I still have a couple of the old prizes,a little tin stagecoach, a little Indian boy. Today they would call them a choking hazard. I long for the good old days also.

It was so much fun opening boxes (Crackerjack, cereal,...) and finding prizes. REAL prizes, not stickers or coupons. The fights we used to have at our house to see which one of us kids was going to get the prize in the cereal box. Battle royal.

That was actually the appeal of Crackerjacks, the prizes. There was better caramel corn out there. But it didn't come with a prize.

I only bought Crackerjacks when given a choice at the grocery store when I was a kid because of the tiny surprises. These days I wouldn't even buy a box. Yep they are not the same :/

Haven't had them in years, but remember well that I couldn't wait to get to the bottom for prize.
