Create your own religion

I always disliked that type of Christianity with its emphasis on entertainment! God is being drowned out! Those super churches are also the bane of small country churches because people naturally gravitate toward the more "exciting" type of worship! I find God in stillness, in meditation, in a walk in the woods, in breathtaking scenery, the sight of a sleeping baby, the stars!
For years I have been wondering if those "good" folks that go to those Monster Churches go there for:
a) the worship of the God that they believe in.
b) a nice place for entertainment on a Sunday morning with coffee and goodies to follow.

We don't need a religion. We need a social contract. To some extent, the law represents such a contract, but it's gotten so complex that it's not completely understandable for most folk. There's no need for a creator.

I broke up with a boyfriend once over religious differences......he thought he was God and I didn't.....
Not surprising, given the ego of most males.

People attend worship services because they get something from them. Churches are designed to stir up emotions in members and call it god, the Holy Spirit or who ever/whatever source of worship. Same concept as church services rely on emotional frenzy for heighten response. Not a unique experience in absence of god but church goers believe they are special.

In their defense I think it's half and half! They are sincere but in their search for spiritual excitement the majesty of God tends to get lost! I found holiness quite often, kneeling in an empty church, communicating!
