Have you found creative uses for packaging or old stuff? Blunderwoman posted a use for an old trampoline on another thread that made me wonder how many other discarded objects could find a new life instead of ending up in land fill.

How about those plastic containers from the big box stores protects fruit from being damaged? They work great for Christmas ornament storage.

When we first got married our little house had no basement, only a crawl space. One day I decided to crawl under there. I found this old hand pump. It was red and rusted. I dragged it out and I my Dad said he could make a lamp out of it. This is the result. I've had it for almost forty years now. It is a nice remembrance of our first home and of my Dad. Another perk, It is impossible to tip over, the thing weighs a ton. pump (800x600).jpg

Ruth, what a beautiful lamp! It holds a lot of memories as well as being useful.

Very nice, Ruth!

Cool lamp but I would love to see that made into a small water garden.

I take cardboard egg cartons and use the individual cells to plant seedlings . I poke a hole on the bottom of each cell and then just bury the carton in the ground during planting season.
