Crochet projects show and tell

I know of Irish crocheted lace .. I don't know if the Scottish lace has a name (?)
There is a great satisfaction that comes with fashioning items with just a hook and thread or yarn.
I'm sure I lack the dexterity. And it seems to be becoming a lost craft. My DIL knits, and 2 of my granddaughters do too, but none of them crochet.

If you don't have stiffness or pain in your fingers, I'm sure you would pick up crocheting very easily. Start off with leftover yarn, or even string. Practice making a chain. There are easy instructions on the internet.

I love to crochet......can't any more😢
........here is a pic of my granddaughter with some teddies I made.
They always were piled up in that basket chair and she just loved to sit and talk with them when she came to visit.
She is 34 years old now....sighs.........

A picture to show comparison sizes.

Crochet thread is thinner than (most) yarn, but thicker than sewing thread.

Most people find it more challenging to work with than yarn.

This is a picture of sewing thread, crochet thread and yarn. Yarn comes in many sizes, but I chose a medium size for comparison.

Pen in picture for scale.

And a close up.

Some yarn - usually called lace weight - is as thin as crochet thread. The texture is different though. Laceweight yarn is soft so the finished product flows and drapes nicely. Crochet thread is a little stiff so doilies hold their shape better.
