A brawl/fight on a Royal Caribbean cruise liner forced an early return to a Miami port after the 2 combatants injured during a fight at the kiddie pool. Just departed earlier in the day.

Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas races back to Miami after brawl by kids’ pool

Ambulances seen carrying away at least one person.

What is it with fights on cruise ships now a days. I thought I saw a there was just a late night fight over fried chicken on something.

Sort of in the middle of that piece it said, "The confined spaces on a cruise ship apparently have a way of provoking outrageous behavior from passengers."

And we hear of people fighting on airlines. Maybe that's because passengers are too close together there too. But these days people don't even seem to need an excuse.

100% agree @MACKTEXAS they don’t need a excuse , it’s lack of respect ….
We are flying to Brisbane ( Queensland ) just prior to Christmas , for 4 weeks hope theres no screaming kids or fights on board.

Alcohol + imbeciles.
Wife and I fail to understand the attraction of a cruise ship. We will never take one.
I would be more comfortable aboard a commercial freight ship, or a tugboat converted to sport fishing.

Me neither @retiredtraveler ….we know a few , through our hobby of ballroom dancing that go on cruses and many still ….come back with covid.

( Touch wood we’ve never had covid)
We did a rail trip from Perth to Adelaide in about 2008 it was the most boring trip I’ve ever done ( 3 days / 2 nights across the Nullarbor which is a ~ mostly isolated desert area )

As Nathan said, alcohol is a huge factor.

The availability of "alcohol package deals" where you can have unlimited alcohol or an excessive amount definitely fuels the bad behavior.

Couple that with getting off the ship and heading out for a day of drinking at the nearest Carlos and Charley's and it's a recipe for disaster.

When I go on a cruise, I have one "frou-frou" drink for the fun of it and that's it for me. At $15 to $20 a drink, that's all I can afford. So far, I've never felt the overpowering urge to get into a fight with anyone.
