Cuba Anyone?

Now that us Americans are allowed to travel to Cuba, I'm seeing a lot on on-line ads for cruises, etc, to Cuba. I think I'd like to go if/when I move back to the mainland. This is assuming I can find a lady travel companion. I know they make a fine cigar and rum. Anyone else thinking about visiting Cuba?

Sounds interesting. I think my out of the country traveling days are over. Take pictures and tell us all about it if you do go Hoot . I'd like to hear about it

Yes, I was born there, visiting Cuba, partaking of cigar and rum(or espresso in a demitasse) are on my Bucket List.
 

My daughter is a travel writer and she spent two weeks in Cuba last year. She said the people are friendly but there are lots of scammers, decent food is very expensive, wander away from the tourist spots and the poverty and decay is awful......beautiful old buildings being left to fall down. The preservation of the old cars is amazing. So as a stop on a cruise would be fun but any longer and prepare to be disappointed if you have a vision of a tropical paradise although there are many beautiful and scenic spots. Things like banking, post offices and internet are beyond frustrating.

Believe it or not, that's the kind of stuff I'd be most interested in---the typical lives of residents. I spent 8 weeks in India, and never hit a single fancy tourist spot, mostly just walk around and observed daily life. Not the cruise type. But that's just me. Ha!
