Cunk on Britain...History as we Didn't know it

I tried really hard to like this, but gave up watching the first video posted, at 13:00. I was impressed with myself for getting that far.

Humour can be important in education. Childlike humour, even coming from an adult, has a place, but this seamed geared towards 10 year olds. I couldn’t help thinking that even some 10 year olds might find this TV show cringe worthy and somewhat embarrassing for the people being interviewed?

Maybe I was looking for humour that was a bit more intellectual. Even very slightly more intellectual humour might have helped. In my mind this show seemed to fall somewhere between being idiotic and comedic – not quite getting to the comedic.

I couldn’t help thinking Alistair Leslie Graham, as Ali G (Sacha Baron Cohen), could have done it much better.

So with all that in mind, I wonder if the people being interviewed were in on the 'joke' (a ‘mockumentary’) or just gullible beyond reason?

They were in on it.
Although they didn't know what they were going to be asked.
You aren't shown where they corpsed.
That got edited out.

They played their part brilliantly.
This is meant to be plain silly.
And if you like plain silly it is hilarious.
But everyones sense of humour is different.
My mother didn't think Fawlty Towers was remotely funny...and that's one of the funniest sitcoms ever.

Thank you for your explanation. So it seems then that it’s a kind of extension of a previous show where ‘Philomena Cunk’ was an investigative reporter on a BBC show?

It’s times like these where I’m glad I’ve never paid for a TV License. :)

We are in a minority of two in thinking it's hilarious 😀
I caught it on one of my streaming sites the other night with my wife, both were laughing at her humor. Very funny. So make that three/four. Watched all the episodes. Some of her explanations were probably better than some of the BS I've seen on 'Ancient Aliens' or any of the staged 'Realty' shows. They're more of an insult to my beliefs than Cunk.
