Cuyahoga County in Ohio now has a registry that convicted animal abusers must register in and they can never have a companion animal by legal means. One of our former Weatherman Dick Goddard is a great animal advocate who helped to put this law in place. Here is the article:

They are hoping to create registries all across the state of Ohio.

That is fantastic! I wish everywhere had a registry like that! People that do that are a danger to society and should be kept track of.
It is good news, yes! Yes, they are a danger to society!

I am not too far from Cuyahoga County. This is great news.
I actually met Dick Goddard many moons ago and we talked about our pets!
Bravo!

That's good Ruthanne, I've seen some horrors of animal abusers on TV and internet, and those people should never be allowed to own an animal, especially the hard severe cases.

I agree. This is a definite step forward towards ending animal cruelty.

Holy Cow! I remember Dick Goddard from when I was in college at Kent State. I believe that he was on KYW-Channel 8. Dick always came across as being a very nice person, just by the way he presented himself.

A little off topic, but my best memory of Cleveland TV was the "Big Chuck & Hoolihan Show" on Friday nights. That show was hilarious and always reminded me of "SNL" even before "SNL" was on the air.

Yes, animal abusers should not be able to have animals, I agree.

Yes, Dick Goddard recently retired and is now helping the animals in his retirement. Big Chuck and Little John it is called now, is on Sunday nights pretty late but I remember the days with Hoolihan, too, that was really funny!

Jon Stewart is another one who retired and 'went to work for the animals'. I think he just got approval for his and his wife's animal rescue.

'Middletown, NJ – In an effort to be the change he wishes to see in the world, comedian John Stewart, after stepping down as host of “The Daily Show,” has started a sanctuary for abused factory farm animals called Bufflehead Farm.
Jon and wife Tracey announced on Saturday that they will become part of Farm Sanctuary’s network of animal safe havens at the annual Farm Sanctuary gala in New York City.

“We’re getting married! Farm Sanctuary and us, we’re getting married,”
Tracey told star studded crowd of roughly 500. “We bought a farm in New Jersey with the intention of starting a farm sanctuary of our own with an educational center, but what I’m announcing tonight is that our farm is actually going to be the New Jersey branch of Farm Sanctuary. We’re going to build new advocates, new curious learners, and new leaders for this very important movement.”

Bufflehead Farm, located in Middletown, New Jersey, is a 12-acre non-profit animal rescue sanctuary owned by Jon and Tracey Stewart, which will soon become home to dozens of cows, pigs, sheep, turkeys and other animals rescued from factory farms.

Stewart has consistently been an animal welfare advocate on his show, once devoting a comedy segment to the foolishness of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s refusal to sign a bill that would end the lifelong confinement of pigs in crates too small for them to turn around.

It's wonderful to see people helping animals. Gives you some more faith in the human race doesn't it?

I can't understand why Gov. Christie wouldn't sign a bill to stop pigs from being in those horrible crates!! That's outrageous!
