Day in a life

I updated Blue link map and navigation, but the SD card malfunctioned causing map guidance system, GPS and media center CarPlay to crash. The dealership cancelled first appointment, rescheduled today.

First iPhone 14 was defective, SIM card replaced, data transferred to new phone.

Installed air conditioner in bedroom window this morning.

Have a yearning for homemade ice cream.

I play my audio books through my car’s AirPlay system. It was driving me nuts that it wasn’t working properly, would just cut out after a minute or two of me being in the car!

Boy did I feel silly when I realized that, because it’s connected by blue tooth to my phone, and my phone is connected by Bluetooth to my Beats, the system was defaulting to my Beats!! Shut down the Beats when I’m in the car, problem solved!!

This is all gobbledegook to me. Airplay? Beats? My car has a DAB / FM radio and a USB port. It has a Sat Nav that has never been used.
Yesterday, Mrs. L asked what one of the symbols on the instrument panel meant. Neither of us had noticed it before and had to look up the manual to find it. Apparently it is the front collision sensor warning. As I said, as long as it doesn't light up,don't worry about it.

Why can't we just get nice basic cars without all these gadgets?

I'm glad it didn't light up when you were about to hit something and you took your eyes off the road to ask your
self, "What the heck is this?"

My 1998 Neon is gadget free. I hope I never have to learn to drive anything else.

Yeah, you have to take a course in car gadgets to drive a new car. One of mine will turn the wheel to center it in the driving lane- I disabled that. I'm not sure how much of the electronics is really useful, or merely a sales gimmick.

When we bought our car last year the dealership had a man we were directed to whose sole function was the tech aspects of the vehicle. Michael walked us…well me, Ron’s a Luddite lol…through the technology and answered questions, gave me his card with cell phone number for future questions, so I could send him pictures to accompany the queries etc.

Michael has been very helpful a couple times over the last year when I’ve run into issues I haven’t been able to solve alone!

I like gadgets but you are right about technology everywhere. It’s surprising how much people fail to grow with change. I think people get comfortable with life as they know it and forget changes are inevitable we just stop playing the game.

I only like gadgets on airplanes. I’ve heard people tell me their dash looks like a cockpit at nighttime when the lights come on. I ask them where are your auto-breaks or your pickle switch? They go “Huh?”

Many of us don't want to grow with change because the change is just a pain. Members of my family, and myself, complain that it's extremely difficult to get something like a washer that you simply turn on and off and has only a control for the water level. We don't want all these new appliances to continuously flash an led, or beep. I recently purchased a space heater. It has a very loud beep when turning on and off. I saw comments about it from people who said it would wake the baby up if they used it in his/her room. I was in IT in a former life and had to relearn at least 30% of my job every several years. I've had enough change, thank you.

Amen, AMEN about the washer. I can't wait til mine breaks (I'm too cheap to get rid of one that's still working) and I can get one that let's me pick the water level.

My only choice now is either guaranteed full fill or let Mr. "Smart" Washer decide the fill. If I put in 2 bras and 3 pairs of undies, I get a full fill. If I put in five bath towels, I get a fill that barely covers the towels and they just slosh back and forth. What the Wash Day Hell???
