Dealing with Spectrum again! A rant....

I check my Spectrum bill every month and especially since my husband died in October and I've been trying to cancel the tv service and just keep internet.

It has been messed up since October and this month is no exception. It's so frustrating. They're still billing me for tv service! I call every month just before the billing cycle ends like they tell me to, but I still get charged. I just looked at this month's bill and, yup, there it is...charges for tv.

I returned the receiver last month and that Xumo box they have now that they sent me is being billed for $5/month. I have never used it. I have Roku and that's plenty good enough for me. They told me that Xumo box was free for a year but not so. I'm just so disgusted with Spectrum. I would love to have something else but there isn't anything in my area except Verizon and it's even more expensive for internet!

So...what am I doing today?....Calling Spectrum again and wasting time trying to get this straightened out for the third time.

When I had issues with them I went to their office instead of calling on the phone. I would bring proof that you returned the equipment because they give you a receipt and if they can’t get it right ask for a supervisor. They are beyond horrible!

My bill shows a credit for the receiver so I know they got it. We have a store here but you have to make an appointment or they won't even talk to you if you just walk in. They also won't take any equipment back there. According to my chat with Spectrum, they are supposed to take the equipment but they won't. I had to mail the receiver to someplace in NY. Yes, they are horrible to deal with.

We had this same thing happen to us but a different company. The company we dealt with was Bell. These guys are so bad that back in the early 2000’s, we took our home phone back and cancelled our service. We no longer required a home wall hookup phone.
Three and 4 months later we still got a phone bill for a phone that no longer existed.

This time we had tv service with the box. We opted for FIB tv which is fibre optics so we returned everything from bell but kept getting billed for it. Then they started calling and harassing us about payment and my husband flipped on them. This happened about 3 times. My husband was beyond mad.

Ask to speak with the manager. In fact, insist on speaking to whoever manages the department. Eventually you’ll get the right person but you need to insist.

Make a copy of the credit you received and send it to them.

I hear my husband ranting about Spectrum at least once a week.

We're on xFinity cable and we used to be able to do that and got much better service that way but no longer; you can still go into their office but the service is no longer better and there are usually about 20 people ahead of you.

The time I tried that with xFinity, they told me there was no manager there.

I don't know what all's wrong with these cable corporations, sigh.

I have Spectrum and YES their TV service and lack of ethics is beyond the pale. My phone and internet service is good. I tried to cancel my TV service but they said I'm paying for a bundle deal, so if I cancel any of it then I will be paying more than I'm paying now per month.

As soon as my year is up I will switch to Satellite. My daughter and SIL have Satellite and never have a connection problem

Edited out Cable and replaced with Satellite

oops. I meant my daughter and SIL have Satellite Dish. They have no problems with it.
We had Dish years ago when we lived in PA before going to AZ. We had terrible reception with Dish. It was always going out every time a cloud went by (and that was a lot in PA...ha) and there were too many trees that blocked the signal. Was glad to get rid of them.

OK...here's an update: I had to get a few groceries this morning and I took the Xumo box with me. I decided to bite the bullet and stop at the Spectrum store while I was out. I was prepared to be told they couldn't accept a return. That didn't happen. I signed in and only had to wait about 10 minutes and they took it back with no problem!! I got my receipt and was on my way in no time. Couldn't believe it.

Any time I've had to deal with a phone or cable company, I've written down the date/time/name of employee I was talking with. Down the line, it helps.
That's exactly what I do also. Same with any contractors or major purchases, a chronological record start to finish.

I will add when I had Spectrum installed at my house it was a lesson in frustration, from phone reps to service techs they were as inept as any business I have ever dealt with.
