Debodun ?

Debodun hasn't posted in almost a month, I hope she's ok...anyone seen her ? It's a particular concern when someone posts regularly and we know they live alone, to then not see them post for a while!!
 

Deb hasn't posted since November when folks piled on about her inability to speak, going to the doctor, etc...

Her profile shows that she was signed on at the end of December.

I checked FB and Deb is posting on a regular basis up through yesterday.
 
I messaged her about it, and she said she would not be returning because of the response to her last post. The one Aunt Bea mentioned.
 

I was wondering about Debodun too, I checked her profile to see her lasts posts, and pleased to hear she is alright

I also hope ‘guyrunningaround’ is ok, he was a regular in the Word Games, havn’t seen him running around for a while....:confused:
 
Well I'm pleased to hear she's ok, that's a good thing . I saw she'd logged in at the end of December, but I didn't see when she'd actually last posted.

I don't know which post in November where she felt it had put her off posting..anyone care to enlighten me?
 
Insulted or not, posting on FB but not here...I hope she's seen a doc since then because the inability to speak coherently is not good! When it happened to my MIL, she told us that her brain knew what she wanted to say and she could "think" it but what came out of her mouth was gibberish. She'd had a TIA, refused to see a doctor, died within a few months of a stroke.
 
I don’t know this person as well as some of you do, so until I find otherwise, I am assuming the issue is legit.

My son’s M-I-L has this same issue, or at least it sounds the same. She has good cognitive ability, but cannot speak coherently. She has to carry an erasable board with her to communicate with others. She was diagnosed with this disease at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

The disease is called Primary Progressive Aphasia, or PPA. This may be something that this person may want to look into.
 
Bah! This was a person who always asked for advice and then, apparently, NEVER took the same. I believe she was the poster who kept going to an accountant who never filed her IRS forms, and then she let him string her along, ad infinitum, despite all of our good advice. Let her post wherever she wants. She was a waste of time, in here! (No, I'm not heartless. I just can't stand feeling like someone is playing us and/or just too dense to understand all of the good advice we gave so graciously.)

I agree that she didn't seem to take advice when given. But as for "gave so graciously," I remember you accusing her of being a guy and trying to pull something over on us. Not exactly "gracious" IMO. Cut people some slack; you don't know what issues they have to deal with.

treeguy64 is capable of defending himself, if he chooses to, but imo your comments to him are unwarranted. You're referring to one particular thread where tg64 calls debodun out. The fact is that for several years debodun was a frequent poster and while there were some exceptions, by far most of her threads were lengthy, whiney complaints about:
- her unsuccessful yard sales
- people at church being mean to her
- various people repeatedly trying to rip her off (veterinarian, medical doctor, car mechanic, lawn care person, snow shoveler, carpenter, etc. etc.)

I must say that I find this thread and some of the comments strange because on occasion a lot of people have been completely exasperated at debodun - in open thread or behind the scenes - including you and the starter of this thread. :whome:

Bluntly, I feel SF has been more enjoyable without debodun.

So, debodun is okay and she's posting elsewhere. Life goes on.

yes we all have been exasperated with her at times when she didn't seem to want to take advice, that doesn't mean that most of us don't give a fig if she's ill, or worse... she's a regular poster here, and I'd like to think all of us would care about anyone who just disappears without any explanation

I was brought up to believe, "The good Lord helps those who help themselves." The subject of this thread sought advice, ostensibly to help herself, and then NEVER took the advice given. Yes, I called her/him out, as a troll, because I couldn't believe anyone would be so ignorant as to receive great advice and then,,,,,,,, ignore it, AND keep making similar mistakes over and over and,,,,,,,,,,,. In the final analysis, I'm still not sure that poster wasn't a troll. (On another level: I hated her icon photo. I am totally grossed out by computer enhanced shots that give human features and/or expressions to animals.
 
SeniorForums is a place where seniors can visit and talk about whatever they want to share about their lives, experiences, complaints or feelings. Advice given by others is just advice, and the person asking is under no obligation to take it.

No member here is forced to participate in any threads if they don't like the topic. If you don't like the content of a thread, pass it by and move on. If you don't care for a particular poster, then use the ignore feature and don't interact with them at all, insulting them is not welcome here.

Hopefully Debodun is doing well and she is always welcome to come back and participate again without any interruption. This thread is now closed.
