Deceptive Labeling in Over-the-Counter Pain Relievers?

My husband uses Aleve sometimes for ongoing muscle issues/pain, etc. I was going to Walmart a couple of days ago, and he said there was a new Aleve advertised that he wanted to try, so he asked me to check it out for him. The one he wanted to try was "Aleve for Back and Muscle Pain".

When I compared it to the regular Aleve, everything was exactly the same, same ingredient, same dosage, etc. So......it seems that nothing changed but the box. So, I never bought it. When I looked up to get this photo, I saw some other Aleves for different things....same exact ingredient.

Have you ever noticed something like this, just a change in wording on box to gain more sales? :dollar:

The drug companies are always trying new "tricks" to get deeper into people's wallets. In the case of Aleve, I keep some around for my minor arthritis....BUT, I buy the Generic Naproxen Sodium for about 1/4 the price of Aleve....same stuff.

We get a big bottle when it's on sale at Costco, lasts forever....but if I was buying it in regular stores Don, I'd probably buy the generic too. For my Hay Fever I use Chlor-Tabs (Walmart brand) instead of the more expensive Chlor-Trimeton.

It's like the products that "yell" NOW WITH NO GLUTEN!!!! when the product has never had any gluten in the first place. Everyone has to jump on the bandwagon.

Excedrin Extra Strength and Excedrin Migraine. Both have same ingredients, same dosage, same milligrams but the Migraine is more expensive.

Just an lol: I purchased some One A Day vitamins but the dose on the back of the label says Take Two. To me, it should be called Two a Day.

Yes, over the counter meds are the pits. Have to use a microscope to read fine print. I order online for the real thing.

Having several different boxes gets them more shelf space and the bigger the display the more apt the customer is to chose it.

Yes, I've noticed it since I always compare ingredients, especially to the store brand as well.

Hahaha JuJube. I know!!! My girlfriend was so impressed since she’d found gluten free corn chips. When she read the ingredients she realized that the regular corn chips are the same. Did I say she’s really cute. :laugh:

Thats exactly right. These big generic knock off research their products extremely well. Most generic products are identical to the best name brands available. Then they cut the price and they sell like hot cakes.
