Wooooof that you deserve a de-briefing after this movie. If you have a pacemaker I would think twice.
I saw this with my twenty-something son and same reaction. It is very well done and I recommend it. But okay an example-you have just leaped into a burning ocean in a life vest. You are still getting pummeled with falling debris before you surface. Then you are hysterical until a life vessel plucks you out.
Even worse...my Dad's lifetime partner was a former Exxon executive. Some places you do not want to even go to. Okay Dad, sure it's an excellent movie...but you both have had heart surgery, and Mitchell used to work for Exxon...maybe not so good for the both of you. I have read that the families didn't want this movie made.
But no the workers were not at fault in any way. A character to watch is one of the bald BP bigwigs. I don't know who the actor is but quite a performance. Perhaps his part in the disaster was played down a bit. I think they should have swung him over the flames and no one would be the wiser.
