Defensive Driving Course

Of course, I've let my DD insurance discount lapse. The last one I took through my employer. I was trying to find one fairly close to take a refresher course. Online courses are available, but they require a credit card to participate. There's an AARP sponsored one at a Senior Center about 20 miles away later this month. I called about that, but the representative said that there are only 2 spots left and require registration with pre-payment - which means making a 40 mile round-trip, even if the class gets filled before I get there, then another one to attend. She also said there are no more classes in the near future. What to do?

debodun, with respect, I think you'd make your life easier if you got a credit card to use i times like this. You could get one of those pre-paid ones where there's a small amount you pay in and that's all you (or anyone else) can put on it. I know you are opposed to credit cards, but something like this might solve this kind of problem and you still wouldn't have to worry about someone else charging a fortune on it (if that's what you're worried about). More and more nowdays, it takes a credit card to function easily in the present world.

You can also get a regular credit card that requires you to be notified before more than a specified amount can be charged on it.

It would sure save you a lot of time and aggravation. IMHO, carrying around a lot of $$ (or having a lot of $$ at your home) is more dangerous. If somebody steals your $$, it's is just lost, whereas a most all credit cards do not hold you responsible if an unauthorized user uses it.

I agree!!

I agree with the others, get a credit card with a small limit of $500.00 or so and use it for things like the DD course, internet purchases, etc...
