Dental care and massage for dogs ?

I just noticed an ad from a local Vet clinic in my part of Toronto, for dental cleaning of dog teeth? They also offer "massage treatments " for dogs. Is this for real ? I get that some dog owners think their pets are "fur babies" but isn't this crazy? I bet the cleaning of a dog's teeth is going to require anesthesia . Is this just another way to separate animal owners from their money? JIM.

my daughter has her dogs' teeth cleaned every month at the Vets' surgery ...it's imperative for overall health .

Dental care is essential for dogs. They get tarter buildup and cavities and broken teeth just like humans…and if you want your pet to be happy and healthy it is essential.
I've had a lot dogs with great, healthy teeth and never once needed a doggie dentist.

Never underestimate the pet industry. Pet therapists, salons, play dates, parties, coached organized sports, car seats, prime beef and $20/meal dry food, their own bedroom and TV... people have lost their damned minds.

I swear, a lot of people faced with danger to a baby and an adult dog seem likely to save the dog first every time. It is all part of society's collapse.

''My Bold''....that made me laugh out loud.....:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

why not?..their little bodies esecially as they age, getting just as sore if not more so than ours...
I've always had big powerful dogs with plenty of things to gnaw on. Their teeth were always strong and white. Sure, I took them to the vet regularly, but never for dental issues.

Truth, I wouldn't let a lot of them near any living thing I care about.

My dog was 17 when she died. She had a single dental cleaning when she was 14…her breath had begun to stink badly. I thought she had a broken tooth or abscess. It was not cheap…it was needed. No abscess and the cleaning solved the problem. Not all dogs do nearly so well as to go that long. Just like a child with cavities problems need to be fixed.

We have our dogs teeth cleaned under anesthesia but years ago our Yorkie got too old to be put under and we found a message therapist who worked on dog teeth at the same time. She ended up being the find of a lifetime. We left her for the afternoon and by evening all her teeth were tartar free. Her breath was much better too.

there you are, there's a learning curve for you... we in the family have had German shepherds, Doberman's ,Cane Corso.. Staffies, Belgian Malinois.. chihuhua , terriers, labradoodles ( big and small)... Pitbull..... all of them went to the vet for teeth cleaning... the last thing you want is a Pitbull with a toothache ..lol

Also when some of them got pains in their bones, arthritis etc.. they always got massaged at home, and they would be put into the warm pool in a cradle to ease their aches...

this is the beloved staffie, she had extensive arthritis in her hind quarters, but with meds and the pool therapy she was in no pain
