Dental Costs...teeth cleaning

Just had my teeth cleaning (periodontal maintenance). Took less than a hour. Did not see my Dentist. Cost $169.00.:(

We have Medicare Advantage plan that does not cover dental.

What are others paying?

$80 is well worth it. It probably prolongs the life of your precious teeth. Sure beats gumming everything you eat.

Take GOOD CARE of your teeth.

$80 sounds about right. The Dentist my wife goes to also charges $169.00.

Makes me wonder if the Dentist get together and set the price.

I should look into dental insurance.

I have dental coverage thru Renaissance...the premium is $34/month...which my company retiree benefits covers...and I get two cleanings a year...free.

We have dental coverage from my husbands work so I have no idea how much it costs but I do know that my last cleaning was a power cleaning done with a power device using baking soda and some other things and it worked great. My dental hygienist is the best though. She’s totally takes pride in her work which is a blessing in itself.
Ive recently had work done on my teeth and I’m so glad I did.

NHS...Teeth cleaning... £21.60....performed by the hygienist

I will be getting a severe gum and teeth cleaning for about $430. It is usually 1000. when done by a periodontist. I have a dental plan
discount (not insurance).

This is not a regular cleaning. It takes 1 and half hours by a dental assistant. Is it worth it?
Well, they say so, of course. My teeth and gums are a mouth of problems all my life and now.
It is intended to prevent future decays, deterioration.

My old dentist was so fast and cursory, he'd do a cleaning in about 15 minutes.

Wife has had both a regular cleaning and deep cleaning done. Her dentist she seen a month or so ago, only does regular cleaning, so she was referred to a dentist that does do deep cleaning. Thing is, the dentist that does the deep cleaning only does sections of her mouth at a time, so she has to see him six times. Four for the deep cleaning, once for polishing and once as a follow-up. And, even with her company dental insurance, it still will cost us $79 out-of-pocket...…..which really isn't bad for that many visits.

She's already been told that her teeth aren't in good shape at all. IOW, she could really use a new mouth full of teeth, but we just don't have that kind of money, even with dental insurance. Good thing is, her teeth really never bother her, but later that will change. Some things Seniors just can't have done due to finances (we really need to make the move out of Florida and that will cost us).

As far as my teeth go, well, I have descent "chompers", but not as good as if we spent a few thousand on my mouth...…..and that isn't going to happen either.

I have mine cleaned 3 times a year at a periodontist because I had a "gum tissue graft" a couple of years ago. The cleanings are free since we have dental insurance. I take care of my teeth; I want to keep them as long as I can.
