Dental Implants

For the last several years, I have been contemplating having my two teeth all the way in back on the bottom removed and replaced with implants. I don’t know what their real dental name is, but anyway, I decided to have them replaced with implants.

So, just over four months ago, I started the replacement procedure of having them removed and replaced. Today, I had the final step done by having the posts and replacement teeth installed. The only issue that I am dealing with now is a very severe headache. I never realized how much was involved from start to finish. The bone grafting was the worse.

Once this headache goes away, I’m hoping that all will be well. I’m also hoping that the new teeth will handle any steak that I order.

From what I heard about it, it is quite the ordeal Oldman. Hope your headache gets better quickly and your implants are done well. Rib-eyes, look out! :)

My eldest sister has had all of her teeth replace with implants-twice. The first time was well over 20 years ago and then again ten or so years ago. I never asked her why the first ones had to be redone but maybe because it was in the early years of dental implants? I don`t know. I remember when she had the first ones done it cost her over $20,000. No idea what the second ones cost.

Due to needing bone grafts, my two implants totaled $7000.00. My share was 50%. For the amount of actual “working” time that was involved, plus the materials and including the teeth, I think the price is an over-kill.

I have a friend that had his whole mouth done, uppers and lowers, in Mexico for a total of $18,000.00. He is 100% satisfied. That price included the extractions and then all of the necessary prep work prior to and after the implants were completed. His only two complaints were that he had to go without teeth for almost four months and he had to stay in Mexico City for two weeks after the final appointment. I remember that he did have to go to a dentist in his home area to correct a problem of some sort.

Some people will do almost anything to have pure white teeth. His look really good compared to some that I have seen that do look kind of fake. I had mine done because they were starting to hurt. They should have been taken out years ago. I had the option of not having them replaced. I was very indecisive about what to do, but my dentist talked me into it stating that I needed to keep good bone structure back there.

Off the the topic for a moment. I also knew of a fellow pilot that had a face lift done in Mexico. He looked like a freak when he came back. I’m not kidding. We were all blown away by his appearance. He finally had it redone in Beverly Hills. He ended up looking similar to Cary Grant. We tried to get him to tell us the cost involved, but I think that he was too embarrassed to.

Oldman,by now I hope your headache has gone away and you will have good results with the final outcome. My sister in law had it done and she lives in the dentist office. Her gums are receding and causing a lot of problems with the implants. I'm sure this doesn't happen to everyone. As for me,mine are hanging in there but when the time comes I'm opting for store bought choppers.

NO! I called the surgeon and sent him a text. He finally called me back and ordered me a prescription for a pain killer. I requested no narcotics, so what does he give me? You guessed it, Oxycodone. I thought that I would take one to see if the headache would go away. It worked, but for how long? It doesn't cure anything, just covers up the pain. He said that this should be expected because of all of the nerves that are entangled in the gums. He said if the headache doesn't go away by Friday, to call him again. I also had pain in my right eye, which has also gone away for the time being.

I've had four implants in the last five years, so far so good. It takes almost a full year if you have a dental graft. I've been very happy with mine.

can be hard to clean I used a water pick--finally caused and was involved with an infection to the adjacent tooth root canal on it and implant drilled out...fun and cheap....
