Dentists and Xarelto blood thinner.

I have to have a tooth pulled, broke it, and am finding out most dentists hesitate to pull teeth for someone on blood thinners. Has anyone ran into this problem before?
I talked to one dentist and he suggested to go to a oral surgeon. $$$$$$
I am told I cannot stop taking Xarelto once you start. Not even for a day or two.
Would appreciate hearing from you folks on this or if you have been through the same thing. Pappy

I had a VA appointment today and my doctor agreed that a day or two shouldn't be a big deal. Now comes finding a dentist here in Florida. I've always had my work done up in New York State.
Thanks Carol and Debbie. You are both correct. The dentist I called the other day wanted the ok from my doctor.

When I was getting my teeth extracted for my dentures and wanted sedation surgery, the surgeon would not put me out until I got checked/ok'd by my cardiologist.

When I had my hips replaced, I was put on Xarelto after the first hip (for 30 days), but had the second hip doe within that period. They had me stop the Xarelto the day before the second hip surgery and resume it after that. After the 30 days after the second hip, I was taken off it entirely.

I guess whether you can stop it or not depends on why you are on it -- I was put on it to avoid blood clots after the hip surgery.

I would definitely check with the cardiologist and see what he says.
