Schizoaffective disorder is a combination of schizophrenia and mood disorder, in my case, depression. I was sometimes moody or pouted when things did not go my way. Looking back, I view myself as an attention seeker who could not manage disappointment and emotions associated with everyday life.
Medication is a large part of my recovery. However, between the years of 1980 and 2005, unsuitable medications at high doses debilitate my recovery more so than my original diagnosis.
Since 2005, my mental status remains healthy and content. Usually, when I am tired, familiar triggers lead to depression. I've learned to recognize thought patterns relevant to my depression and redirect my thinking before depression sets in.
It is people who cope well in life live life more abundantly.
